Update Report

The PAFnow Companion has the capability to update your exisiting PAFnow Report.

Steps to update a report 1.6

  1. Open Report Management by clicking on the appropriate tab in the PAFnow Companion

  2. Drag-and-drop one or more report(s) or template(s) to the screen or click on the plus button and select the reports/templates you want to update. If you have already added a report, it appears in the recent list. To update, just click on it.

  3. Depending on whether one or more reports are selected, a different view is displayed.

  4. When one report is selected, the following view appears. update

  5. The version of your imported PAFnow Custom Visuals is checked. If the version is out of date, you will see an information in blue to the right of the current version number, that a new version is available. If you click on the blue hint, you will be redirected to the patches page in the PAFnow Docs, so you can see what changes are available with the new version.

  6. Click on the Update -button to update the PAFnow Custom Visual to the newest version. When you want to update all your outdated PAFnow Custom Visuals at once, click on Update all at the very top.
  7. You can also update the PAFnow Custom Visuals in multiple reports at the same time. Therefore drag-and-drop one or more Power BI reports or templates or press open pbit, pbix file(s) or folder under the recent list in your Report Management tab. You can also select a folder with reports or templates in it by clicking on the blue colored "or folder" in the button. When you have selected multiple reports, your view will look like this.

  8. You see a list of all selected reports with the information on the right in blue, whether they contain PAFnow Custom Visuals, of which there is a newer version.

  9. To update all reports at once, select "Update all custom visuals" in the action box below and then press the APPLY TO ALL button.

  10. You can see in the progress bar how far the update process is. After a successful update the blue hint disappears that a newer version is available.

Steps to update a report below 1.6

  1. Open Report Management by clicking on the appropriate tab in the PAFnow Companion

  2. Drag-and-drop the report to the screen or click on the drag-and-drop area and select the report you want to update. If you have already selected a report, you can select a previous report version by clicking on the edit icon. first-page

  3. In the next step the configuration appears - by default the latest visual versions are already selected. second-page

    Depending on the selected report, different status appear per PAFnow Visual in the Status column. By comparing the installed version (Current Version column) with the selected version (Target Version column) the following status are possible:

    Status Icon Description
    update This icon indicates that a more recent PAFnow Visual is available than currently installed in the report.
    check This icon indicates that the installed PAFnow Visual is already the latest available one.
    check This indicates that the selected version is older than the one installed in the report.
  4. Click on the Update Report-button to update the report with the selected versions as shown in the Target Version-column. Note that the button will appear disabled when there are no differences between the current and target version selected for the report.

After having successfully updated a PAFnow Report you can either open it by clicking on the shown report path or finish the process by clicking on the Finish-button.
